PROPERTIES OF OATS
The Romans and Greeks already reaped the moisturising benefits of oats in baths to nourish, soothe and repair their damaged skin. Today, oats are used in cosmetics for their antioxidant properties thanks to the vitamin E found in the seedling, which protects the body and hair cells.
At Klorane, we extract the active ingredient ourselves at our Gaillac site in the Southwest of France. Through a green extraction process that respects the plant and the environment, we obtain a highly concentrated natural active ingredient for all hair types, oat milk brings shine and suppleness to even the most delicate hair. We have dermatologically tested the active ingredient so that it is suitable for children aged 3 and over: mission accomplished with its high paediatric tolerance!
A few words from our expert
As oats are a hardy cereal that requires little water and is not very susceptible to disease, we harvest the grains when they are fully ripe in order to guarantee the maximum quality of the active ingredients: the flavonoids.
As well as being a product of organic, circular agriculture, our oat milk formulas are biodegradable
The organically grown oats, the active ingredient and the finished product are produced within a 48-kilometre radius, on our own land in the southwest of France. We are committed to a circular economy system by using extracted oat pomace as fuel for a biomass boiler at our finished cosmetic product manufacturing site. Our formulas are biodegradable in accordance with OCDE Standard 301B.

Legend has it that the English snubbed the Scots, who were already using oats in their diet. It is said that a famous English dictionary gave this definition in 1755: " Oats: a grain that the Scots eat, but the English only give to their horses ". The Scots would have replied: " This is why England has such good horses and Scotland such admirable men! ".
