Native to the southern valleys of the Himalayas and Indochina, the citron tree was introduced into Persia several centuries BC The Greeks were the first to cultivate it and it was not until much later that the orange and lemon appeared.

The citron is a large, oval fruit that can weigh up to 4kg. It is slow-growing: it takes around 3 years for the citron tree to fruit. The peel is thicker and less smooth than that of the lemon and covered with bumps.

The acidic green or yellow pulp is too sour to be made into juice. The citron and its zest are consumed in pastries, confectionery, jam or liqueurs, while its essence is used in perfumery. Topically, citron is known for its invigorating and purifying properties.

PROPERTIES OF THE CITRON

Why is it so effective for your hair?

Modern life generates external aggressors- pollution, hard water and dust that can be deposited on the hair, weighing it down, making it dull and often stimulating the process of sebum production in the scalp.

We have selected the Corsican citron for the sweetness of its pulp and its energising and detoxifying properties. Our Citrons are harvested exclusively by hand, just before it is ripe, when they are still bright green, full of amino acids and vitamins - thanks to the sun of the Island of Beauty. At our factory in Gaillac in the Tarn region, we obtain a gold-coloured citron extract from crushing the whole fruit to help hair regain its vitality and protect against oxidative stress from external environmental aggressors.

A few words from our expert
