THE PROPERTIES OF OUR QUININE

Why is it so good for your hair?

Medicinal Quinquina was a traditional remedy used by the Incas for its many benefits to treat digestive problems and infections. Medicinal Quinquina, and especially the Quinine extracted from it, are the main treatments for malaria. In low doses, it is a bitter tonic that stimulates digestion. Externally, they can be used to treat itching and flaking of the scalp with dandruff.

Quinine, extracted from medicinal Quinquina, acts on the hair follicle to slow down hair loss. Combined with caffeine, it strengthens the hair's roots and stimulates the production of keratin, the protein that makes up the hair, to boost its strength from root to tip. The effectiveness and tolerance of our quinine product haircare routine has been dermatologically tested.

Training of local communities

In the field, Klorane trains communities to guide them towards more sustainable agriculture

Klorane is working with NGOs in Ecuador to encourage families to move away from the intensive cultivation of Quinquina and adopt more sustainable methods of cultivation. The aim of this commitment is twofold: to protect local biodiversity and to pass on good practices with a social impact. These agroforests are both ecologically sustainable and economically profitable.

Successful results against deforestation

Concrete actions to fight against the scourge of deforestation in South America

Klorane Botanical Foundation has committed to building 6 nurseries with 15,000 trees comprising 40 endangered species in Ecuador over a period of 3 years which will benefit 75 Kichwa families. Activities to raise awareness are also carried out in schools to train future generations of farmers in more sustainable practices.
