What does it look like?

Quinquina is present on the slopes of the Andes Cordillera at an altitude of 1,500 to 3,000 meters. The trees are 15 to 20 meters high and produce white, pink or yellow flowers.

The first step is the identification of the Red Quinquina, thanks to the shape of the leaves.

The harvest of Quinquina bark is manual with a machete. It is done in dry weather from July to November. In order to preserve the plant and not cause deforestation, only the bark is harvested and then dried.

At Klorane, only barks that have never been harvested or have regenerated are selected. After harvest, a Quinquina bark regenerates in 2 to 3 years depending on the climatic conditions.

THE VIRTUES OF OUR QUININE

Why is it so good for your hair?

The medicinal Quinquina was a traditional remedy used by the Incas for its numerous benefits in order to treat digestive problems and infections. The Medicinal Quinquina and especially the Quinine extracted from it, were the main treatments for malaria. In low doses, it is a bitter tonic that stimulates digestion. Externally, they can be used in the case of itching and scaling of the scalp with dandruff.

Quinine extracted from Medicinal Quinquina acts at the level of the hair follicle to slow down hair loss. In combination with caffeine, it strengthens the anchorage and stimulates the production of keratin, a constituent protein of the hair, to boost its strength from roots to ends. The effectiveness and tolerance of our anti-hairloss routine with Quinine have been tested under dermatological control.

A WORD FROM THE EXPERT

Quinine has a stimulating and strengthening effect to effectively slow hair loss.
