What does it look like?

Native to Iran, the pomegranate tree, belonging to the Lythraceae family, grows in hedgerows throughout the Mediterranean region. It is a self-fertile fruit tree that can grow up to 6 meters tall and live for 200 years.

Recognizable by its gray-beige bark and bright red flowers, only one-third of them produce fruit: pomegranates, which are yellow, red, or orange berries.

For 4,000 years, on the shores of the Mediterranean, the pomegranate has been bursting into ruby-colored pieces. Delicious and generous, from the sweet pulp of its seeds to its skin, this berry provides the benefits of a juice rich in antioxidants.

THE VIRTUES OF OUR POMEGRANATE

Why is it so good for your colored hair?

It is at the foot of the Middle Atlas Mountains that its purple or garnet flowers change the landscape from September to October. Cultivated with the utmost respect for nature in Morocco, delicately picked by hand and then slowly dried in the sun to preserve all its benefits, the pomegranate we use in our skincare range is rigorously controlled by Pierre Fabre Botanical Expertise specifications.

An active ingredient is extracted from its rind, whose chemical structure and tannins create such a perfect alliance between the fiber and the coloring pigment that it ensures the color remains on the keratin and prevents it from fading. The polyphenols contained in pomegranate, which are powerful natural antioxidants, protect the intensity and radiance of the color from external aggressions and offer numerous benefits.

A WORD FROM THE EXPERT

The high tannin content of pomegranate bark makes it an excellent cosmetic ingredient for fixing hair color.

Societal and environmental commitment

After harvesting fruit suitable for consumption, burst fruit is used for its peel.

This industry thus helps to reduce agricultural waste and improve producers' incomes.

Did you know ?

In the past, pomegranate syrup was made exclusively from fruit grown on the Caribbean island of Grenada. It later lent its sweet flavor and red color to Tequila Sunrise and several other cocktails. This is hardly surprising when you think of the island's sunsets.
