Urtica dioica L., commonly known as nettle, is listed in the European Pharmacopoeia for its purifying, astringent, and revitalizing properties. Klorane uses dried nettle root specifically for oily hair.

What does it look like?

Nettles grow to a height of 20 to 200 cm and form colonies thanks to their rhizomes.

They are covered with long stinging hairs (trichomes) and small soft hairs. They can be picked with bare hands without getting stung by pinching the stem and moving your fingers upwards.

It has long been used for its benefits in traditional recipes, for its astringent, cleansing, and purifying properties. It also acts on the skin and its conditions, particularly acne and eczema. Nettle root is also an excellent scalp tonic.

Why is it so good for your OILY hair?

Oily hair is often caused by an overproduction of sebum by your sebaceous glands due to a hormonal imbalance. The problem starts at the scalp.

Nettle has a rebalancing and purifying effect and acts like a “blotting paper” on the scalp, without damaging it. Grown without the use of pesticides to protect its ecosystem of 120 living species, nettle was selected because its roots contain an active ingredient with sebum-reducing properties, capable of limiting sebum production in specific areas and delaying the re-oiling of the hair, allowing you to space out your shampoos.

For our dry shampoos, but also for hair prone to oiliness, there is one magical active ingredient: nettle. Its sebum-reducing properties guarantee supple, flawless hair that is light as air.

The plants are harvested at full maturity to ensure maximum quality of the active ingredients before being dried naturally in the sun.
