FEATURES

What does it look like?

kl_pomegranate_ingredient_active_field -1- 472x592
Native to Iran, the pomegranate tree, a member of the Lythraceae family, grows in hedges in the Mediterranean region. It is a self-fertilising fruit tree that can grow up to 6m tall and live for 200 years.

Recognisable by its beige-grey bark and bright red flowers, only 1/3 of them bear fruit, the pomegranate: yellow, red or orange berries.

Thus, for 4000 years, on the shores of the Mediterranean, the pomegranate has exploded in ruby-coloured bursts. Tasty and abundant, from the sweet pulp of its seeds to its shell, the berry provides the benefits of a juice rich in antioxidants.

PROPERTIES OF POMEGRANATE

Why is it so effective for your coloured hair?

At the foot of the Middle Atlas its purple or garnet-coloured flowers change their decor from September to October. Grown in Morocco with the utmost respect for nature, delicately picked by hand and then languidly dried in the sun to preserve all its benefits, the Pomegranate we use in our skincare range is rigorously controlled by Pierre Fabre Botanical Expertise specifications.

An active ingredient is extracted from its bark, whose chemical structure and tannins create a perfect alliance between the fibre and the colouring pigment, ensuring that colouring is maintained on the keratin and preventing it from fading. The polyphenols contained in pomegranate are natural super antioxidants, and protect the intensity and radiance of the colour from external aggressions.

Did you know?

Pomegranate syrup was once made exclusively from the fruit on the Caribbean island of Grenada, and it gave its sweet flavour and red colour to the Tequila Sunrise and several other cocktails. Hardly surprising when you think of island sunsets.
