PROPERTIES OF CALENDULA

Why is it so good for babies?

At birth and during the first 3 years of life, babies' skin is not fully developed and is vulnerable because it is not yet fully functional: the skin barrier is thin and permeable to harmful factors such as pathogens or UV radiation. The epidermis has not yet synthesised the proteins and lipids that strengthen its first layer. In this relatively short phase, the skin barrier does not fully play its protective role.

The softening and healing properties of calendula help to regenerate the sensitive and delicate skin of babies and strengthen their natural defences. Each Calendula flower is harvested by hand in early summer to preserve the quality of the active ingredients and thus their benefits.

AND FOR THE PLANET?

Our commitment

KL_BABY_SOCIAL_PICTURE_KL_BABY_WALK_July2018 472x592

Social commitment

The Klorane Botanical Foundation has launched the " Graine de Botaniste" programme , which is part of a UNESCO initiative to pass on its passion for botany and to raise children's awareness of the need to protect biodiversity from a very early age.

Respect for the environment

Today, calendula is organically grown, harvested by hand and then extracted and manufactured with a green solvent, a natural active ingredient specifically formulated for babies.

Klorane's commitment to children

The purpose of the Graine de Botaniste programme? Passing the passion for botany on to children!

It's never too early to learn about the wonders of nature. The Klorane Botanical Foundation launched the " Graine de Botaniste " programme to pass on its passion for botany and to make children aware of the need to protect biodiversity from a very early age. What better way to encourage protecting biodiversity than by immersing themselves in the fascinating world of plants?

Did you know?

Nicknamed " the bride of the sun ", Calendula gets its nickname from calendae meaning " first day of the month " in Latin, that's why it is a meteorological indicator as the flower has the tendency to open at sunrise and close at sunset (this is the phenomenon of " nyctinasty " discovered by the famous botanist Paul-Victor Fournier).
