HAPPY SKIN & HAIR Pollution, you'll not ruin my skin!

5 tips for skin that is clean and free of pollution

It's a sneaky one! A little like the villain that is only revealed at the end of the film, pollution unfortunately goes hand in hand with city life. A grey complexion, skin that gets oilier faster than a plate of cured meats, blackheads that multiply as quickly as people running to the underground at rush hour. You can't see it, but it's definitely not kind to our pretty faces! So before you drop everything and hide away in the countryside, here are a few tips on how to rid your skin of it...

Cleansing

01

Cleansing

Pollution is the number one enemy of combination skin: it causes the skin to appear oily and shiny, the complexion can appear dull, in short, it's a mess. Trapped in the sebum, the pollution particles form a grey layer that mixes with dead cells to slow down cell renewal and reduce radiance. So you have to cleanse every day to help the skin remove it.

Remember to do it gently as pollution can make the skin more sensitive. Once the make-up has been removed, the face and neck are carefully cleansed with a gentle and, if possible, purifying product. We rely on water mint, our anti-pollution champion, to gently remove impurities and leave your skin clean and able to breathe!

Hydrate!

02

Hydrate!

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate... we can't tell you enough! Moisturising is the key to healthy skin, and it has to come from within and without. Consider drinking water or green tea, which are known to help flush out toxins, and include seasonal foods with a high water content in your diet. Moisturise your skin first thing in the morning with an anti-pollution cream that will create a barrier to help protect it all day, as well as deeply nourish it.

Eat antioxidants!

03

Eat antioxidants!

And yes, your plate can be a powerful asset in your battle against pollution. Opt for foods with antioxidants to strengthen your body from the inside: citrus fruits, red fruits, peppers, and more generally all those rich in vitamins C or E such as flax, walnut or olive oils. At the same time, don't overindulge in dishes that are too high in sugar and fat, as they won't help you - they'll do quite the opposite!

Detoxify!

04

Detoxify!

Easy to say, but also easy to do! Once or twice a week, treat yourself to a special moment with a mask specifically made to reduce the effects of pollution build-up. Purifying masks capture the remaining particles that your daily cleansing has not been able to remove. To purify, water mint will again be your best ally, this time in the form of an easy-to-apply stick that will leave your skin feeling revitalised!

One last pamper?

One last pamper?

For the more courageous, there is spirulina. This seaweed powder is all the rage among nutrition freaks, and rightly so! Rich in vitamin E, selenium and tyrosine, it has antioxidant properties that help fight the formation of free radicals responsible for the appearance of oxidative stress and the visible signs of skin ageing. It helps to naturally protect skin from external aggressions by holding on to heavy metals and gently driving them out. It is an excellent food supplement and mixes very well with smoothies, provided that the doses are respected and the intake is limited to a few weeks. Pollution had better watch out!
