What does it look like?

kl_flax_active-ingredient_field_plant_2019 -1- 472x592
Linum usitatissimum l. comes from the Latin " usitatus " meaning " very useful ". The flax plant can grow up to 1 metre and has a single stem, spiral leaves and 5-petalled cyme-shaped flowers ranging from blue to a pinkish white.

Each flower produces a fruit, a small dried capsule containing smooth, brown, curved seeds. The oil constitutes up to half of the seed's mass and is rich in omega 3 fatty acids (linolenic acid).

Flax is an ancient crop that dates back to the beginnings of agriculture. Together with hemp, it was the second most widely used textile plant known for making clothes, sails, ropes and cloth.

PROPERTIES OF FLAX

How does flax help hair that lacks volume?

In cosmetics, the volumising properties of the mucilage in flax has proven its effectiveness in hair care products. As guardians of the hair, these fibres, called mucilage, bond in contact with water and expand, providing a volumising effect

Klorane has proven the effectiveness of flax fibres and their benefits on hair volume through biometrological tests on hair strands: the mucilage envelopes the hair and provides volume from roots

We harvest flax seeds in the southwest of France, in compliance with organic farming standards.

Did you know?

The flax flower is ephemeral: it only blooms for one day. The flowering period lasts for a fortnight, and each dawn sees a new flower bloom. Every afternoon the petals fall. Every day, a new flower will appear. The ground is then adorned with blue petals.
