Oat—and especially organic oat—has several beauty and household uses that you can easily build into your routine. Face, body, hair, and home: this readily available grain has many uses and benefits. Oatmeal scrub

Less aggressive than “groats,” rolled oats can be used as a natural exfoliator for your face. It couldn’t be easier: mix a tablespoon of organic oatmeal directly into your cleansing milk or make your scrub with coconut oil (dry skin) or aloe vera gel (oily skin). Massage for a few minutes in a circular motion and rinse with clear water. And voilà, soft skin !

Oat bran as a refrigerator deodorizer

Some everyday foods can sometimes leave stubborn odors in the refrigerator. To avoid ruining your groceries, it is best to use natural products that banish odors rather than those that contain synthetic chemicals. Oat bran is extremely effective at absorbing odors and freshening up your refrigerator! Place a bowl filled with three tablespoons of oat bran on a shelf of your refrigerator and replace every two to three weeks for guaranteed results! !

Oat bath for dry skin

A great source of Vitamin B and Potassium, Oat has a hydrating and soothing effect on the skin.
Every now and again, treat yourself to a nice, warm bath with the addition of 100g (3.5 oz.) of jumbo oats and a few drops of sweet almond oil. Relax in the bath for a good ten minutes or more and step out with silky soft skin!
Top tip = Infuse the oats in the bath water inside a reusable tea bag to save yourself the hassle of having to clean the tub! !

Oats for a healthy, balanced breakfast

Rich in fiber, protein and vitamins, this increasingly popular grain is also of excellent nutritional value! You can’t beat it at breakfast to stock up on energy while remaining healthy! Forget sugary and processed products that don’t keep you full for long and make way for a healthy, balanced breakfast that is quick to whip up... EGo wild with the toppings on your oatmeal: fresh seasonal fruits cut into small pieces, flaked almonds, chia seeds, dark chocolate chips…

Organic oats for your garden or vegetable patch

To give your vegetable patch or garden a boost, use oats as a fertilizer in spring! They can be used as a cover crop until October for plots left fallow after harvest. Under the effect of frost, the oats leave a thick carpet that will prevent soil erosion and weeds from growing the following spring. So you can do one of two things :

  • Grow some oat seedlings in your vegetable patch in the spring after your harvest. Plant the seedlings directly into the soil to create a natural fertilizer before planting.
  • Use rolled oats as a natural fertilizer at the base of your plants

Sow 1 to 1.5kg (2 to 3.5 lb) for every 30m2 (100 sq. ft.) of soil and choose organic rolled oats where possible
