Dandruff in your hair? Learn about natural remedies What natural remedies treat dandruff?

At Klorane, we have a natural solution for every hair problem. Dandruff is no exception! There are many miracle recipes and misconceptions on this topic: we have listed the most effective natural remedies for dandruff to help you make the right choices.

The perfect natural solution against dandruff: a fungicidal and soothing ingredient

It is the fungus (or more specifically a yeast), Malassezia, which is the cause of dandruff proliferation. To curb the problem of dandruff, you must find a natural remedy to stop it with the help of fungicidal active ingredients, i.e. those that destroy parasites. Multiple natural ingredients and plants contain this kind of active ingredient and will therefore be able to fight dandruff and rebalance the scalp over time.

How to treat dandruff

Myths vs facts about natural dandruff solutions

What you should consider 100% natural treatments, such as plant oils, like castor, olive, coconut and essential oils such as tea tree, lavender, cedar and palmarosa, as well as white vinegar, clay or some plants such as nettle. Our botanists have chosen Galangal and Nettle as effective natural solutions.

What you should avoid Changing your diet because you think it has an impact (this is a myth!) and avoid using harsh shampoos on the scalp in the hope of stripping it clean (this is damaging and can worsen your dandruff). Don’t think about using baking soda either, it is a classic grandmother's remedy that causes severe skin and eye irritation.

Essential oil benefits

Essential oil benefits

Tea tree, Lavender Aspic, Palmarosa... they are all effective against dandruff.

Essential oils can help regulate sebum production at the root, cleanse and purify the scalp and consequently reduce dandruff over time. To make the most of their benefits, apply one or two drops to your shampoo. Take care before using essential oils, you should seek the advice of a health professional to prevent the risk of allergies or contraindications during pregnancy.

The benefits of white vinegar

The benefits of white vinegar

White vinegar will prevent the proliferation of dandruff thanks to its bactericidal, antiseptic and fungicidal action. Moreover, the acidity of vinegar helps maintain the pH balance of the scalp. To use it, add 1 or 2 teaspoons directly to your regular shampoo. Or dilute 5 tablespoons of white vinegar in a bottle of cold water and use it to rinse your hair after shampooing.

What could be better than a plant as a natural solution for dandruff?

A plant from traditional Chinese medicine, we chose Galangal as a natural remedy. With its fungicidal, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties, this natural remedy acts more effectively and quickly than chemical molecules against all types of dandruff.

A few words from our botanist

We selected Galangal because this plant contains, in its roots, the “rhizomes”, active molecules called “phenylpropanoids” which have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect.
